I wrote this little python script that lets me use the touchpad enable/disable FN key on my wife's Dell 15R. It watches the gconf setting normally used by touchpads (/desktop/gnome/peripherals/touchpad/touchpad_enabled) and uses the same xinput mechanism described above based on the state of that

Fluxbox is not a full "Desktop Environment" -> It is only a "Window Manager"; and therefore it does not conform to the XDG Autostart standard. The ~/.fluxbox/startup is the only thing that is executed on startup, so it is the appropriate place to start daemons that are not started automatically by
