I downloaded ubuntu-mate-15.04-desktop-powerpc.iso with the intention of
running this under Ubuntu 14.04 x86_64 using qemu-system-ppc.
I found that this never works and all I get is a blank screen.

^I can vouch for this. When I experienced the bug, I was using the KDE
menubar widget. I stopped using it when I had to disable Firefox's
ability to interface with it so that the bug would stop.

These bugs certainly all have the same symptoms, and now we know another
possible cause it switching workspaces. As for the Windows users among
those links, I remember having the same problem back when I used Windows
(many many years ago) that I fixed by disabling the Menu Editor
extension.

This bug is not version-specific. Have you noticed all of us mentioning
that we have it in other versions of Ubuntu? I'm running 12.04 and I
still get the bug unless I disable the Unity extension.

I have a ASUS K53E laptop. When either suspending or hibernating the
laptop fails to poweroff. The actual suspending/hibernating appears to
work though.
If I hibernate(by running pm-hibernate from a terminal) no error
messages appear on screen and after about ten seconds the

WinXP machine and messed with its sound settings to turn off the mic-

anything to do with it.

I just updated, and for now everything is working.
I noticed this in /var/log/syslog when starting the network-manager openvpn
connection:

Not sure if this was caused by me using network-manager to connect via OpenVPN
or it was just by using Wifi.

What's the point of reporting bugs if you're just gonna copy things to
hardy-updates without reading them? The Ati driver doesn't work, as
reported by me and 3 other people.
How do I get back to 8.4 now? I can disable hardy-updates, but that just
gives me 8.3 as an option.

I apologize for the tone of my post, it's just annoying when something
you and other people report on gets ignored.
Your blog post said report experiences here so that's what I did. The
posts here that actually mentions Wine or OpenGl all say they don't work
with the Ati

Tried the ATI driver with my integrated HD 3200 (AMD 780G chipset).
Compiz and desktop effects work, however AWN (avant-window-navigator)
freezes whenever i mouse over it.
