The screen is distorted/scrambled every now and then. That is, it's like
a few lines of pixels are repeated (so it's a normally a blur). The
screen also flickers at times. This happens a few times a few. I've
noticed that if I close the lid and let the screen dim/blank/suspend

Daniel, thank you for the quick action.
It appeared last night again shortly after bootup (see attachment). I
closed the lid and opened it again. Voila! Screen back to normal.
