Comment #3 resolved my issue.
Do you have any idea as to why MythFrontend tries to mount every
filesystem it can think of when you have the mediamonitor running?

Have now most likely located the problem.
On my machine(s), Mythfrontend tries to mount /dev/sdb, /dev/sdc,
/dev/sdd and /dev/sde. These disks do not exist in my system.
After a time-out (around 5 minutes), the system comes alive and
responsive again.
Has anyone hardcoded /dev/sdb

After upgrading Kubuntu 9.04 to Kubuntu 9.10, the MythUI freezes after
around 30 seconds. I haven't seen anything in the logs, but I'll take an
