Wrong icon for
I have the same problem, only with a samsung intel atom netbook (n-150).
Sometimes the netbook resumes ok. But often after longer periods of
sleep everything powers up exept the display and os. A few times the
netbook hang in sleepmode and would not power up at all.

I installed Ubuntu 11.04, and encounter this problem.
If I start an Ubuntu XSession, the bar on top does not load. It is grey,
but wihout content. The bar on the left has icons, but clicking them has
no effect. Left mouse button or right mouse button anywhere has no
effect. Running Ubuntu Classic

Yes, I currently have this problem on 8.10, 64 bit version (same
problems on 32 bit though).

Just installed hardy on my acer 5920 laptop. This issue seems to be
fixed there for me. The screen 'flickers' when i adjust the brightness,
but the levels are set correctly, and they stay that way. I'm happy! :)

Tim's patch is certainly a big improvement if you set idle dimming to
disabled. No more annoying dimming when you don't want it. Except when
you open the gnome-power-manager preferences. Then it does seem to dim
the display for some reason.
Also, this bug appears to be a duplicate of bug #133057.

I think the people rather want comments regarding the bug. Anyway, the
play/pause button seems to function as some kind of page-up button here
(in for example firefox), the top button functions as some kind of page-
down button, the next/prev buttons as right/left. But that only works in

after login from gdm into gnome, my backlight is switched off.
I traced it down to gnome-power-manager, if i chmod 000 /usr/bin/gnome-
power-manager, gnome works OK. KDE works fine as well. Also, Gnome

appears the 'video' kernel module conflicts with the 'ibm_acpi' module.
Putting 'blacklist video' in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist resolved the
