The 5.97-5.2ubuntu2 release is a FIX for the 5.97-5.2ubuntu1 which was terribly broken. The delay from the fix was released until it hit the mirrors has caused a bit confusion. But i hereby confirm that the bug is closed, in that coreutils 5.97-5.2ubuntu2 is running (and working) on my system as
