This way you are going to lose the features of the Synaptics driver.

It is the compositor. CPU load keeps low when I deactivate the
compositor before connecting the display. Many other issues stay though:
- Position of the second display is not remembered - have to adjust it every
time.

I experienced this using 19.10 as well. Don't know how to reproduce it
though. Will write again when I know.
