I've upgraded to 10.04 and the modem now works perfectly (it also "feels" a lot faster than the old E220). However, I did have to sudo apt-get install usb-modeswitch libusb-dev and reboot before it would work. I'd close this bug as 'fixed' if I could work out how to :-) -- Network Manager fails
