quisk package is apparently missing dependency on python-wxgtk2.8
Adding this package allows quisk to start up:
sudo apt-get install python-wxgtk2.8

I do not have a 64-bit system either, but I reproduce the problem by
using pbuilder-dist to run a "clean" oneiric i386 build on my system
running natty.
I am seeing this issue of libraries needing to be moved later in the
command in many packages; the behavior is different between gcc-4.5.2 in
na
gcc 4.6 does not obtain modules from libraries unless the library comes
later in the command, after the module that requires it.
This problem was present in 2 places:
1. In Makefile.in hamfax_LDFLAGS must be after the hamfax .o files.
2. In configure QT_LIBS must be after the qt* test program.

g++ 4.6 does not resolve library symbols if the library is mentioned
early in the command line.
The attached patch moves "-lncurses" and "-lm" to the end of the g++
command in the Makefile.

With gpsd installed and a USB GPS device plugged in, xgps shows that GPS
data is available, but "ntpq -p" does not display it. "server" and
"fudge" lines had already been added to /etc/ntp.conf & ntp restarted
My previous patch fixes version tlf-0.9.32.3.
I see that the author has posted source for a new version:

I found it necessary to make 3 changes:
1. The 2 digit string for the current month was obtained incorrectly.
2. FIlling the line buffer with blanks was going 1 character too far.
3. Some strcat() operations exceeded the length of the log_line[4] buffer, so
it was made longer.

the 1 line change.
After applying this fix, the next problem was to overcome the "cannot
open...". I tried various settings in ~/.quisk_conf.py, and also noticed

sound playback device.
In sound_alsa.c:quisk_open_alsa_playback() at line 500, after snd_pcm_open()

After installing updates today, hibernate is now working again on Dell
C400, i.e. the laptop does eventually power off.
When reawakened from hibernate, there were some error messages visible
through flashing bars, but eventually the working session was restored
correctly.

In order to make it the default setting, I added the "i915..." option to this
line in /boot/grub/menu.lst

This workaround solves the graphics startup problem.

2.6.32-16-generic to start graphics successfully on Dell C400.
I had tried "i915.modeset=0 nomodeset" last week, and it had not worked
at that time. I have installed updates several times since then.

1. ctrl-alt-F1 apparently does work, but the screen remains blank. After
ctrl-alt-F1, "username\n password\n sudo reboot\n" does cause a reboot. It
