Possible workaround until this bug gets fixed:
I made my own shortcut in settings "/usr/bin/gnome-screenshots -i" Then I
assigned shortcut to be print screen. Interactive mode does remember last
saved directory so that's a safe work around for the archive.
Hope this helps somebody.

This bug will not be fixed. In theory, the problem is going to be corrected

I thought the general understanding was that this bug wasn't going to be fixed
as the underlying architecture was going to be redone as gnome 3.0 will be
released within the next year or so and will replace 2.26. I could be wrong
though.

Be a part of the solution not the problem. Download the patch, apply the

It's been a while so I don't remember the conversation but I think you turn
off the proposed repos in synaptic and then do the updates. Synaptic will
recognize it is dealing with different versions that what is in the stable
branch and downgrade things back to those version numbers.

Re-indexing does fix the problem. The issue is that first of all,
this shouldn't happen, and secondly, it happens frequently enough that
re-indexing every time the results fail to display is not convenient
and makes tracker not ready for everyday use.

Have we heard anything from Canonical about why gvfs was included in the
first place? I mean I've heard Debian Lenny which is about to be released
still uses the older gnome-vfs.
On another note, I would like to know how I might apply the patch made by
Darkrain42(I think) which fixes this.
