Happened to gnome-calculator on my laptop. Didn't notice any problem
with gedit. Renamed ~/.xinputrc, logout/login, problem solved. This
laptop started with 10.04LTS and has upgraded through all LTS versions
to 18.04LTS. I use gnome-flashback metacity by default...

Running dual-boot Windows 7 / Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric on Dell M90. Windows
CHKDSK reports no problems with my hard drive. Ubuntu S.M.A.R.T. reports
a staggering 7 million+ bad sectors with green light status: "Disk has a
few bad sectors". My system runs just fine, which is why I'm adding my 2

Since upgrading to Lucid: have to restart CUPS each time I boot, some .pdf
documents don't print, had to run update manager man
With the current MailineBuild installed:
I still have to start CUPS manually each time I boot up my laptop
I can now print certain .pdf documents (bank statements) whereas before I was
told the files were corrupted.
Will see if update manager runs automatically next time it is time for it to run
