After some issues upgrading to karmic, i was able to this out. This

All seems well on the home front in regard to this issue.
Thanks all for your help.

xine crashes on open with X Error - BadAlloc
I got this error while opening thunderbird via terminal. I tried it
again and it worked...I'm wondering if it had something to do with it's
memory of where the default window location was before I upgraded from
9.04 and had a Virtual display set to ~3000 1024.
Not sure though.

if it locks up immediately after or after sleeping for a while

I've tried it on 1440x900, 800x600, and the virtual display size for the
dual screens. All result in xine loading then exiting. So it doesn't
work regardless of the resolution.

Binary package hint: gdb
At the prompt, I type in:
gdb TAB
and get the following:
[21:35:02 dvz] $ gdb find: cannot search `': No such file or directory
find: `/usr/scripts': No such file or directory
The TAB seems to automatically execute instead of populate options.
