I have three monitors attached to an ATI card. Two monitors are 16:10
and one is 16:9. When all of the monitors are set to their non-identical
native resolutions compiz crashes at boot and the system is unusable.
This is a regression that came down in the April 15 update to

Note that I had to get compiz into a working state in order to run
apport-bug. So in the first post the monitors have been set to identical
resolution.

This is four open Chrome windows that were minimized. Then I clicked on
the Chrome icon in the Unity bar to see the previews of the minimized
windows.

Right, why do I waste my time. It is obviously more important to have a
magnet effect for some dialog placer that I've never used and didn't
know exists. To support this feature I have to have my mouse get stuck
every single time it crosses between screens - like about 5,000 times a
day.

Launcher on left monitor.
Launcher disabled on right monitor.

I have a web app that closes the browser window when it is done. If this
window is minimized while it closes Unity gets really confused about the
state of which Chrome windows are minimized and which are open. Unity
probably has a list of minimized Chrome windows

output, SPDIF, but the volume is max (ie not restored to where I left

To make this work you need to use the a52 plugin for ALSA. a52 can't be
shipped in Linux distributions because of patent problems. You need to
install it manually.

camera. The description appears to be wrong but the sound is coming
out the S/PDIF correctly.

I just managed to get pulse git head building. He has taken a completely
different approach to fixing this. The code was already in git.
If you start the pavucontrol app there is a new tab for Configuration.
Under that tab you can choose from a drop down...
analog in + sdif out
stereo out
...
That patch above is in the category of it makes my system work but it
breaks other systems. So he has everyone turned off.

that when you have both a motherboard audio device and a USB one, they
initialize in random order and the first one that initializes becomes
the default. I wanted a stable initialization order. I don't care which
one is

I have pulseaudio-esound-compat installed. I went through all of the
tabs in Sound Preferences and there isn't a choice for use sound
server. There is a choice for 'Enable software sound mixing (ESD)'
which I have selected. I had this selected before and pulse wasn't
loading.

For example, I have motherboard sound. It starts off as ALSA device 0.
Now I plug in a webcam, it becomes ALSA device 1 because it has an
integrated mic. Everything is working fine.

zd1211rw developer has informed me that softmac can't set the essid/key
without the link being up. All of the other distributions (except
Debian) have been modified to bring the link up first.

I have already done that, everything works fine with /sbin/ifconfig
$IFACE up added. Maybe a little inefficient since it will be done
once for every wireless parameter.

I went through this with the main zd1211rw developer on the zd1211
mailing list. The problem is that the link is not brought up before ifup
tries to use it.
This will work and DHCP will get an address
ifconfig eth1 up
ifup eth1
This does not work, it is also what happens when you hotplug
ifup
Trace from zd1211rw debug that failed.
The network scripts tried to Associate the device to an access point
before the device had ifconfig eth1 up issued.
If failed way before we get to DHCP
# ifup eth1

Could this be an explanation of where the disconnect is? If you set
essid or key in other wireless drivers while they are down, they
remember this fact and then process these when the link comes up.

to allow essid/key to be set before the link is up either. So you are
both right. Where does something like this get decided?
