2009-08-03 Thread Jonas Diemer
Hi, I have this bug on my machine (ATI Technologies Inc RV516 [Radeon X1300/X1550 Series]) as well. The attached python script (using mayavi2) reproducibly freezes X on a standard Kubuntu 9.04 (upgraded to from 8.04). I installed the 2.6.29-02062904 kernel from PPA, which fixes the problem. I

Just tried 2.6.29.5 and .6 kernels, both work fine for me, however, not the default 2.6.28 kernel... So I can also confirm what juhuu said, the 2.6.29 fix the problem. Maybe someone else can try my test-script and report his/her findings to help track down this issue. -- [RV250] Kubuntu: X

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: usplash During a bootchart analysis, I noticed that the usplash init script sleeps for 1 whole second waiting for usplash to quit in the function usplash_quit(), line 69. I reduced this to 0.1 seconds, which slightly improves my total boot time. I

For me, LC_ALL=C scribus also fixes the problem, but does not affect the program's GUI-Language (German in my case). I suggest that the Ubuntu package maintainers fix the K-Menu / Gnome- Menu entries for Scribus to e.g. LC_ALL=C scribus-ng %f. This way, the problem is fixed for every user for

Yes, you are right: The GUI Language is the expected, but the number format will not be correct. And I agree that this problem should be fixed instead of implementing the workaround. But since this bug has been pending for more than a year w/o a fix, my suggestion is that the workaround should be
