On my system, notify-osd is using 700MB of RAM and 1.5GB of swap. All
it's been doing all day is putting up Banshee notifications of new
tracks. I had to kill the process.

At the moment I've only tried VLC. The slider moves, but no sound is
outputted. I'm not sure if it's using Pulseaudio though. I've installed
the extra pulseaudio tools so I can test the other programs out.

This would probably mean instead of installing the System Upgrade helper
in the /tmp folder, it would be installed in /bin or /usr/bin or
somewhere where it could be considered as a "proper" program, even if it
is going to be removed after use.
