'setxkbmap' works for me too. It also fixes Ctsl/Caps swapping bug. However I have to execute it every time. I tried adding 'setxkbmap' line to .bash_profile or rc.local but it didn't work. Why :( ? -- [hardy] keyboard layout switching shortcut doesn't work after reboot
