I've the same problem but on Ubuntu Gnome 13.04 + Gnome Fallback + Compiz
Workaround: use dconf-editor to change org.compiz.gwd use-metacity-theme > false

Just to clarify, your cdrom/dvd will work just fine if you comment the
/dev/sr0 line on the /etc/fstab file

I solved this problem by commenting the cdrom mounting line on the
/etc/fstab file
