to the freeze I had done a dozen or so very
similar actions all involving drop down lists. Could be the browser is
not properly handling the memory with this feature.

running browser against local server and data base. That is running

I only encounter this issue about once a month now, was more common, I
suppose I changed my usage.
Oh I know, when I had this issue a lot I was listening to books while
recovering from an operation.

all other applications are functioning
normally. I have had many instances where I just do not use that
window. Also when I get to this state all new windows of Nautilus that
I open will be broken.

They appear to be PNGs not JPGs.
Just change the name and viewer is happy.

Summary says it all, I think.
Image viewer is doing a test that other programs are not.
Either they are all wrong or the test is unneeded in image viewer.

I usually ignore updates for a while as they are as likely to break
things as fix things.
I'll do an update and if I still don't see it I'll complain.
