I tried to install from mini.iso, ran into this, and am now hopelessly
hosed. Is there any way to fix the situation short of a complete
reinstall?

What method would you suggest for getting a stack trace from the
installer environment? There does not appear to be a gdb udeb:

I worked around this by setting NO_AUTH_DATA_REQUIRED on the
userAccountControl attribute in ldap for the server account to prevent
the PAC from being added to the kerberos ticket. I guess maybe when
svcgssd gets a kerberos ticket that is too large it gets unhappy and
stuck in a loop?

The kernel seems to lock up when accessing a kerberos mounted nfs share
with a user holding a kerberos ticket. This is in a virtualbox vm(run by
vagrant), but it also occurs in a VMware vm from a standard ubuntu 14.04
server install disk.

I had the same problem, but fixed today after installing the libreoffice
metapackage.
I suspect it was either libreoffice-gtk or libreoffice-gnome which did
the trick.

This does seem to be a systemd bug that is affecting several

reboot/shutdown so that it can save or clean up resources gracefully.

I'm trying to help you out here, but you are making things more
confusing than necessary.
If you can document clearly that Ubuntu 15.04 behaves differently from
14.10 in the shutdown sequence (e.g., perhaps Ubuntu 14.10's shutdown
sequence sent a SIGTERM *before* cutting off the network, and Ubunt
Can you be a lot more explicit? To make sure I understand you correctly,
you are saying that:
(1) With a client running Ubuntu 15.04, shutting down the system does
not cleanly close your Mosh connections (it leaves a mosh-server
running), but rebooting the system *does* cleanly close your Mosh
