I should really say that suspend-to-idle never holds forever. With the
SP3 disconnected from every plug including docking station, power, type
cover, and micro-SD and with both BT and WIFI turned off, it lasts for
random periods and then comes back alive.
I'm using 4.0-RC6 with the set of patches

pm_functions as modified by Launchpad bug 1380076. This is not a
perfectly clean bug in that it sometimes bounces back from freeze even
without BT being on and it can go a long time with BT on. But definitely

OMS: Thank you! I encountered the same problem with PulseAudio. When the
PulseAudio service wasn't running, I was experiencing these symptoms in
Firefox and Thunderbird. Starting PulseAudio fixed it.

With the freeze patch installed and the power button patch in the kernel it can
still fail to stay suspended. However I think there are two causes in my system
and without them it will stay frozen at least until there is a power glitch:
- Bluetooth on, even with nothing paired, is certain to caus

still being tested. On my computer (now running 4.0-RC4 with patches but
NOT the freeze patch from comment 26) suspending still bounces back, but
with their patch it goes to the lock screen mode.

I got that wrong yesterday, I think. IWhen the freeze patch is
installed, it seems to do something akin to suspending, but I haven't
figured out how to get it back (not power button or mouse movement).
Instead you have to hold the power button long enough to kill it and

at all; it still bounced right back. Note that this kernel is unaware of

since the upgrade, so it really does seem to have something to do with
(to put it somewhat philosophically) the PC's perception of time. As

This affects me as well, using a Canon MG3250 over WiFi. The printer
supports both IPv4 and IPv6, but CUPS is only able to connect to it when
it chooses the IPv4 address, which appears to be about 50% of the time.
I was able to work around the problem by going to my printer's web
control panel, go

I'd like this bug sorted before 14.04 simply because Xubuntu is such a
nice small fast OS for older laptops, given the EOL of Windows XP. Users
from Windows will expect Save As PDF,
Any file created in Abiword when Save As PDF is invoked causes Abiword
to crash, so I've attached the simplest one that I was using to test
Abiword when the crash report attached was produced.

as a PDF results in Abiwor
Work around: PDFs can be produced using the File | Print dialog and
selecting Print to File and ensuring that the PDF option is checked.
On my system, ODT export works fine without crashing. I shall test other
file formats as time allows.

I'm affected by this bug in Xubuntu 13.10 as well. I'm uploading the
crash report in the hope that you will alter the status of the bug from
invalid to confirmed.

This bug is still present in PPC 20131215 iso. This time the
installation window vanished shortly after the account registration
process screen. I was able to shutdown from a console.

The PPC Live iso for 20131205 stalls at the plymouth splash screen. I
was able to get to a console and ran ubuntu-bug linux to get this
report. I had to use another computer to actually file the bug report.
