I've discovered that this behavior can also occur with the installer
(similar to bug 1900130) when the USB stick to which the installer ISO
was written is bad. (In this case, the error message is saying exactly
what it should be saying.)

Huh, for reasons I don't fully understand, I no longer get this error
message. Maybe it takes two reboots for the BIOS change (enabling
virtualization) to take effect.

Using the command "xset b [volume] [pitch] [duration]", I've found that
adjusting the first value does not adjust the volume at all, only the
duration. The third argument also adjusts the duration.
