The failing code is identical in Lucid and Maverick, so I'm thinking the difference between the two is that the Lucid fault occurs on a kernel page, which is fatal, while the Maverick failure occurs on a user page, which kills the process but not the kernel. -- t1.micro instance hangs when instal
