The headphone doesn't work either.
In the System Settings, Sound dialog, I only have the single option in
the Output tab: Digial Output (S/PDIF)
How can I get the Analog setting to show up so that I can select it?

Dell Precision M65. Some sounds (simple beeps from ubuntu) work, but
most sounds (.wav .mp3 files) are silent.
