This bug is fixed by the following patch against metacity-2.27.0 (the
current version in ubuntu karmic).
I added the metacity's maintainer to this bug's subscribers list.

I have the exact same error messages when inserting an audio CD with
2.6.31-5, though the CD is then regnonized by GNOME and I can read it
with an audio CD player. (Note the additionnal ILI message in the dmesg
output:)

I forgot to mention the bug is not triggered when using the move-to-west
feature of icewm (icewm 1.2.33-1ubuntu2) as the window manager. The
move-to-west feature of icewm is bound to Ctrl+Alt+6 (the [6] key on the
numeric pad on the right of the keyboard).
