roughly 20-30 seconds.

Correction I just rerun stress with the following settings and the
computer crashed within 10 seconds.
stress -i 4 --cpu 4 --io 4 --vm 2 --vm-bytes 256M

I just did that and installed what you recommended linux-
headers-3.8.0-030800_3.8.0-030800.201302181935_all.deb and I am now
running stress with 4 cpus on. The system seems to hold, it is running
for the last 10 minutes. The temperature is fluctuating around 95 with
only reaching 100 momentar
I have not updated to the new 13.10 but I suppose there were 1 couple of
kernel updates in the last 2 months. I also sudo apt-get upgrade every
2-3 weeks so I suppose I installed enough updates from when this problem
started.
