In short: I can confirm the bug on Maverick and Natty.
As it has been mentioned, "acer_wmi" should be blacklisted and
"ideapad_acpi" should be added to /etc/modules instead. Beware:

There's no upstream bug as this is not exactly a bug per definition, it's more
like a new feature that's being worked on. I don't think it'd be a good idea to
file a bugreport upstream either as this is already under development.
If you want you may consider this "bug" fixed upstream and
Ho-hum. It seems apport doesn't like my custom kernel and attaching the
logs of Ubuntu's standard kernel won't help since powermanagement
doesn't work there as it's not implemented yet...

The main "problem" here is that fglrx doesn't want to install on a kernel newer
than 2.6.32. However we can't expect the Ubuntu devs to support other kernels
than the ones shipping with Ubuntu.

Actually I was a bit too harsh above - it's not really a udev bug, if I
read the thread on linux-usb correctly it is actually a bug in hdparm
but until that gets fixed I vote for disabling the mentioned udev rule
alltogether which would make it a udev bug too ;)

Okay, sorry, the bad X-performance was due to DRI being disabled due to some
package problems (something installed the Nvidia driver package on my system
which broke my ATI DRI). Now that I've found the source of the problem this is
gone.

Another update: I changed the description of the bug because the bug
affects much more stuff. My brother wasn't able to burn CDs or install
programs in Wine until he reverted to version 2.27.92-0ubuntu2. Other
guys are reporting mounting errors and/or problems when copying data

driver in Karmic reports a wrong "image size" to the X-server (logged in

After two days of messing around I figured out this error was due to an
older libdvdcss2 which slipped in when mass-installing a folder of
packages *sigh*. Setting this crashreport to invalid.

I'd really love to see this in Karmic too. Even though it's a major
upgrade it shouldn't be that problematic as the new features are
something the applications using the library can but don't have to

Same error with Totem...
I think the package libdvdnav4_4.1.3-3_i386.deb in Karmic broke DVD
playback, previously everything was working just fine.
