Another problem is when users logout. Sometimes the segmentation fault
happens when the users logout as well, since the video reinitializes.

Why is this fix not being pushed out to the main repo's so that we can
implement the fix more widespread. I had to go through and image an
entire library worth of machines with this pre-rolled up because gdm
crashes all the time when we use pam_mount. Thanks fedsed for the
fixes. I keep this
As a workaround to anyone dealing with this:
Change the value in KDMRC that allows for retrying to start kdm several times,
and this will work around the bug until a fix is made. Now, this only affects
me once in a great while. Still bothersome though and would like an update on
what's going
This bug report is nearly a month old with NO update from any developer.
Please update the bug report with some insightful, as this is feeling
like there is no hope for this bug.

Wanted to see if the latest built drivers from XOrg edgers would make
any difference. Similar, but slightly different results. Here are the

Not sure if this helps at all, either, but I get repeating messages in
the kern.log that state this. There are hundreds every minute.
BCCSStudentAdmin kernel: [ 3632.465451] [drm:r600_audio_bits_per_sample]

Also, the daemon.log says this:
As mentioned, the front headphone port does function. Been using that
for now. Would like both ports to be mapped, however, if possible. I
can provide any command outputs requested.

This affects myself as well. Sound still not working on my E4500S on
Ubuntu 10.04 with the latest stable released kernel. Even attempted to
compile latest asla, pulse, etc. and install them, not realizing this
was a kernel issue. No avail.
