I'm traveling right now and only have my one usb drive with me. If I
can borrow another one I will try to confirm and get back to you,
otherwise won't be able to respond until I get home in another week or
so.
For what it's worth, this same usb storage device previously worked with
no problems.

upstream kernel. Previously mentioned workaround of opening Startup

Public bug reported:
As the title says usb storage mounting suddenly stopped working. The
only workaround I have discovered so far is to run Startup Disk Creator.
This causes the usb disk to be detected and then Nautilus automatically
mounts it.
ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04
Packa
I have also found that opening Startup Disk Creator causes usb drives to
be detected and automounted.

Ubuntu 12.04 USB problem on Msi u270
Same issue on a Lenovo Ideapad Y550 with all the standard integrated
Intel stuff. Would be great to have this fixed, usage of usb-storage
should be a priority.

I am also affected by this bug. It seems that any window with the
system scroll bars is affected. Other windows (e.g. Chrome, Adobe
Reader, OpenOffice) are not affected.

I'm having this same problem on an up to date installation of Oneiric.
I notice it most frequently when running Chrome fully maximised, no
other applications running. Unity launcher also sometimes does not
close when in dodge windows mode. I have discovered that by dragging an
icon, picture, etc.
