I'd like to confirm this on my end as well. Upgrade from Intrepid 64bit->Jaunty exhibits this behavior. Console tools like ping or links work. Some do not however: notably aptitude and apt-get. My workaround for the apt-get/aptitude issue was to add the ips to us.archive.ubuntu.com and securit
