After a recent update within karmic koala, I could then play all region
2 dvd's (the region my dvd player has been set to), but could not play
region 1 dvd's.
I have now followed the instructions from

When I try
I have been given a fix to mount the media - similar to the issue with the
touch pad. Instead of using the button to open the dvd rom drive, one types:
eject cdrom (without the quotes) in the console.
This will open the drive, and media is mounted.
It seems a better workaround than putting the
