Strangly, after updating my system (and rebooting) a couple of times,
the problem seems to have fixed itself.

'e' character does not

When searching for applications in Unity's Dash search box, the 'e'
character is never displayed. Strangly, all I see is a blank space. For
example, if I type abcdefg I actually see abcd fg. It's as if the
font is missing an 'e'.
