I have a similar problem in edgy with my two sound cards. Sometimes the
cmedia card is used and other times the sis is used, but c-media was set
to default in the settings. I have attached the dmesg output right after
boot of both cases.

There is a new version of amsn. It's 0.96RC1. I know it isn't a final
release but Firefox 2.0b2 there is in edgy isn't also a final-release
version and there is new things in amsn 0.96RC1 and there can take some
time before 0.9r final being released.

I think that Sun has fixed this bug but this is and old beta-version of
java here is in Ubuntu's multiverse-repo. Just my guess.

When I restart GDM I get black screen and GDM would not bring up again. After
the GDM crash I cannot switch to another shell. The only thing that helps is a
reboot.

I have installed Ubuntu 8.04 Beta on my laptop when Firefox 3 beta 4 still was
in the repos.
I have installed flashplugin-nonfree and nspluginwrapper and It works fine in
Firefox 3 beta 4, but when I updated to Firefox beta 5 through Software
flashplayer-installer shows up in my .mozilla directory and it works
fine in firefox-2 and epiphany but not in Firefox 3 Beta 5.

flashplugin-nonfree package:

Now that I changed from Direct3D to OpenGL, I can Alt-tab and come back,
but like you, I have no more sound. And, when I exit the game, it
completely freezes and cannot be killed. So, I have to reboot the
