That's not correct, if you check the syslog attached on comment #1
you'll see that the system booted in EFI mode.

The initramfs boot script try to mount the root filesystem into /root

Trying to install from a USB drive, created with ubuntu. System boots on

I don't see any symptons, just discovered accidentally.

@Bruno:
The problem with Zoom In/Out and Spellcheck keys are not kernel-related;
that's a problem with the X server.

I also think it's bad behaviour. I have a sound card that supports

pulseaudio grabbing pcm.!default (because of some incompatibilities).
Unfortunately, this is not possible without changing /usr/share/alsa

I've reported the bug directly to the maintainer.
I've just searched for the commit log in the hid tree:

Just FYI, this should be fixed in some next kernel version. I've emailed
Jiri Kosina who is the maintainer of this driver and it he did a very
nice job fixing this!
Here's the patch for those interested:

Yes I understand, however, even when overriding the pcm.!default I have
exactly the same problem with Jaunty 9.04 or Intrepid 8.10.
How are you trying to reproduce this? What are the steps you're doing
while trying to reproduce this bug?
I was able to reproduce this using a kvm image with 2 sound

I've installed Ubuntu 9.04 alpha 2 and applied all the updates for this

confirm exactly the same behaviour, but I've made a simpler test as
described below and I believe the problem is still present.

I don't have 9.04 here, but I can still reproduce this symptom in 8.10.

I think your keyboard may be different, and that would explaing why it's

Unfortunately, it's not possible to disable the quirks at runtime

I understand that it might be a good idea to leave pulse as default on

setting with a file in /etc or user's home folder.
Currently, the only way to disable this option is editing a file in

@Cepero:
Unfortunately, you can't disable this quirk at runtime because there's a
fixed blacklist defined by vendor and product ids where the workaround
is applied.
The only way is to recompile the kernel (actually, you only need to
recompile the usbhid module).

Even if I define a pcm.!default section in ~/.asoundrc, /usr/share
