Weird yes! Thanks for the feedback though. I'm on the 4.4 kernel now
and wanted to report this which is perfect. I'll switch back to the
stock linux-generic in a bit to run the same and post the output here if

I seem to have been experiencing some instability due to this kernel
downgrade so I'm now back to the stock 16.10 linux-generic to see how
things hold out. Using an .xprofile file with the appropriate commands
for my HP Envy 34c:

Downgrading to the 4.4 kernel solved this issue for me. Specifically I
installed the 4.4.28 mainline build.

I don't think this has anything to do with Rhythmbox inspite of those
reports. I tried the test and there is nothing related to the issue in
~/.xsession-errors.
On the other hand, I can reproduce the issue in shotwell pretty much
every time with Rhythmbox not running and the MTP plugin disabled i

I have this same error in dmesg on a Dell Inspiron 15z with a fresh
quantal install. I tried the 3.7-rc2-racing kernel but it only boots
with acpi=off. With the regular quantal 3.5 kernel its possible after a
number of retries to boot with acpi=noirq. Booting with acpi=off does
not allow testing
Actually I don't see how to close it, please close this bug.

Before today's update, I could use an exernal monitor plugged into the
mini display port (intel card) of my Inspiron xps 15z. Now after
today's update the display preferences applet doesn't detect the
external monitor and clicking on Detect Displays doesn't help. I tried

As an update to this, I disabled the gphoto2 gvfs backend by running
sudo chmod -x /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfs-gphoto2-volume-monitor
to isolate issues to shotwell / libgphoto2. What I get is that the
issue persists and actually trying to run an import is not necessary,
its enough to just click on the US

have it on 2.6.31-13) by playing with alsamixer
setting Mic Jack to Mic In and Digital Input Source to Digital
Hopefully this will withstand a reboot. Sound input was fine on
previous 2.6.31 kernels (11 ?).

dump. Downgrading to 1.1.4-7 solves the problem but can also create
