A clean install of both Eclipse and NetBeans (on a different computer)
work perfectly, so I went on trying with my laptop and found that
removing the configuration makes it start again.
Just gotten both Eclipse and NetBeans to start using the same standard
troubleshooting trick.

I have the same problem, and have no eclipse-sdk installed. Never have.
Strange thing is that this problem seems to have the same source as my
NetBeans installation not working properly anymore. This might be a
problem bigger than just eclipse...

This afternoon update manager failed after updating halfway, and presented me
an error with the installation of the new libc for kernel 2.6.24-12. I tried
running it again, because all the updates were still visible in the update
I had exactly the same. Using Shift+Space is dumb, if you're asking me.
It's a commonly used key combination, especially in the English language
(the capital i, with a space right afterwards).
The other keybindings aren't well chosen either (defaulting to
Ctrl+Alt+Right which is mostly used for vi
I can confirm this bug too, the strange thing is, it doesn't always
happen. I get this result about 9/10 tries. Sometimes it does run
though, at the same framerate as the torn picture does.

At the end of the dmesg you can see some unrecognized keys, which were the
search butten (first one) and the Wireless button.
The other two 'extra' buttons on this notebook (Web and Mail) _do_ work.

a WiFi-part and a Bluetooth part. The WiFi-part works just fine. The
Bluetooth part is completely undetectable.

I have somewhat the same error, though the search function does actually
find stuff... though the Places >> Search for Files... finds many more.

On my MSI Megabook S271 laptop the Gnome Power Manager shows me strange
power history graphs for a while now...
The older version which was once included in Feisty (I guess it isn't
anymore, but I'm not sure) did show me correct graph
I have the same here. First GDM didn't run, so I ran the old kernel and
disabled the restricted drivers, and rebooted to the newer kernel. Now
Metacity doesn't run in the newest kernel, leaving me without any
borders and desktop, causing gnome-panel to chrash regularly.
