1) A version of the NVIDIA proprietary driver prior to 331.38?
I didn't run a version prior to 331.38. I'm running the 331.113 and the
behavior is the same as 331.38.
2) A release of Ubuntu prior to 14.04?
I didn't run other Ubuntu version in this laptop. I bought with Windows
8.1 b
Hello Cristopher, In my opinion, the detected behavior has not changed
after updating the BIOS and nvidia driver. Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately the problem is not resolved after BIOS upgrade. As you can
see on the attached image the temperature GPU reaches 91C after start
the game.

I've updated my BIOS to A05 following the procedure "Upgrading with a
FreeDOS USB drive" that can be found here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DellBIOS. The update process worked like a
charm.
After update the BIOS, I ran some tests on the same game. The
temperature is ranging from 83 to 86 with the pea
