I have an install script that does various things including increasing ssh
security by altering config files.
After altering it does reload or restart as appropriate.
I've noticed that in ubuntu 14.04 it stopped working.
The cause of the problem is the function in /etc/init.d

This bug starts to turn into a major problem. I use pidgin to communicate via
skype so I can keep the history locally and search whenever necessary in one
place.
I also communicate with all my co-workers and due to this bug I've started to
miss some messages.

After upgrading to linux-image 2.6.32-34-generic my Xorg randomly freezes.
I can still log in remotely with ssh, but cannot restart Xorg gdm or use the
kayboard to switch to vt1.

I have just tried upgrade from 10.10 to 11.04 the installer stopped at "Setting
new software channels" and a popup appeared with:
Invalid package information
After your package information was updated the essential package
'ubuntu
The same workaround works on HP Compaq nw8000. If I disable the infrared
from the BIOS the serial works fine.

The bug still exists with the new Hardy version, unfortunately the bouncing
script that worked for me in Gutsy, now doesn't work :(
It seams that the state file is missing:
