I can also confirmed that the same issue happens with
ubuntustudio-8.04.1 amd64 iso and also ubuntustudio 10.04.
I also found that is caused by an old partition that I keeped without
format. Yes, my old /home - /dev/sda4. I found the solution is install
a base system without mounting /dev/sda4.
The bug also affect me. I also confirm the solution in #30 indeed
works! Fast booting comes back. Thanks god.

I can confirm this ,too. Mine is thinkpad R31.Originally I am used to
7.04. All thinkpad special keys worked fine,but they don't be functioned
any more after upgrading to 7.10 even 8.04 beta.

After testing many times,I found that it is due to irqpoll.But without
irqpoll,Usb on thinkpad will behave incorrectly.Failed network
connecting and usb mouse lagging.It should happen on all laptops which
use i810/i830 chip(R31 is i830).

After suspending,Resuming always failed.Need to reboot myself.
Hibernating always come back to sceen saver bringing back the login
window.And then sometime will see a little window says "because

to Jérôme,I make a new clean rebooting without any hibernate/suspend testing
after last time booting.Also can see this:

My computer is IBM Thinkpad R31.Cpu is Celeron 1.03ghz, intel 830 chip.After
reinstalling Ubuntu 7.10 by alternative ISO.I found The booting is very very
slow(What's Different to others is that my splash appear correctly ).It almost
