Today I have booted the laptop again and tried to pair a bluetooth
device, but it didn't show any in the list anymore :-(. I tried to think
what I did different three days ago, and realized I booted Windows 8 to
gather the bluetooth driver. So I booted into Windows 8, then just
rebooted into
Step 8: try to list BT devices around by clicking on the bluetooth icon
at the top right of the screen, and then selecting Configure a new
device. The device's list will have all the bluetooth devices around,
and you will be able to pair them perfectly.
Another useful information:

This issue is also present when booting an up-to-date Ubuntu 14.04.1
official kernel (version 3.13).

need to grab the Windows driver (mine was from a Windows 8.1 64 bit
installation).

On my machine, which does have a Nvidia graphics card, the libhwloc-
plugins package is kept back as well. Forcing (simulated) installation
yields the following output:
user@host:~$ sudo apt-get -s install libhwloc-plugins

Hi,
Janne: Thanks a lot, those patches worked for me in most of the
features.
Christopher: Do you think I should processed reporting to linux-input?
Or as is a known issue that people have already worked on, shouldn't?
Thank you guys,
