I'm sorry mate, I already removed the 64 bit system, it was rather
"unstable" and crashed almost always.

when an application crashes, and I send the information, then the crash
reporter tries to open a link in firefox ( i have the latest version
installed ie:3). however firefox is already running, hence i get an
error msg that firefox is already runnin
solution:
#sudo nautilus
go to /boot
remove all initrd.img-2.6.24-1*-generic.bak where * = 6,7 or 8 assuming u have
updated to version 2.6.24-19 a couple of days ago. this will free up memory in
the boot sector hence u can log in and update normally.

i had no space on the boot partion. freeing some space solved the
problem
