Same problem here and it is related to menu cache file
(/usr/share/applications/desktop.${LANG}.cache).
When a new package is installed using dpkg, the latter calls /usr/share
/gnome-menus/update-gnome-menus-cache script which updates the cache
file and the menu item is displayed without problems.
Public bug reported:
I'm experiencing very poor performance with my Intel 4965AGN card
connected to a 80211n network.
With Hardy, the latest linux-backports-modules package (2.6.24-21.27) and iperf
I get 70 Mbps.
With Intrepid Beta I don't go beyond 30 Mbps.
Updating to linux-image-2.6.27-7-gen
It seems to be _exactly_ the same oops :-). BTW the oops is more likely
to be fired by some parameters used by the mac80211 module to invoke the
QoS cleanup than by the QoS code itself. The latter is supposed to be
called in any network module removal, but as long as the mac80211 module
isn't invol

Binary package hint: linux-backports-modules-2.6.24-21-generic
If you try to remove the iwl4965 module with modprobe -r iwl4965 the kernel
crashes. The problems seems to be related to traffic control management in
mac80211.ko. Note that the same crash can be obtained issuin
Having the same problem on Hardy, I wrote a tiny perl script which
listen to session state change events and executes 'nvidia-settings -l'
every time the session is activated. I made Gnome start (and stop) the
script adding an item for it in System->Preferences->Sessions.
