This image contains /efi/boot/bootx64.efi which was generated using
simple command:
grub-mkstandalone -d usr/lib/grub/x86_64-efi/ -v -o bootx64.efi -O
x86_64-efi
Result is unusable as it does not see UEFI partitions.
Anyone can check by booting image on UEFI bootable VM.

support branch and produced images are at

set of disk images/kernels/initrds.
aarch64, arm, i386, x86-64 have grub-efi binaries and should boot to
grub
Created image with just grub-efi binaries. Both x86-64 and aarch64 boot.
Not tested ia32 and arm EFI binaries as I do not have UEFI for those
architectures.

One of things cirros image does is being small. Every time I used grub-
mkstandalone it ended with 4-5MB binaries which not always worked (no
idea why).
Due to limited time to work on it I grabbed CentOS grub-efi packages as
they contain working ~1MB binaries ready to use.

3.8.0-7 for sure as I used it for quite long time and USB 3.0 hdd is my
backup drive. According to backup logs last one was 2 weeks ago so
3.8.0-13 was probably faulty as well cause I booted it 13 days ago.

legacy-ec2 to generate list of kernels for booting. But with
3.5.0-21-generic I do not get it on a list:
