I don't mind the delayed response. :) This is not a wubi installation, I
used the Live-CD. The error has occured several more times during
updates/installations using adept - not at all limited to kernel
upgrades. But deleting everything in /var/lib/dpkg/info still solves the
problem.

Adept recommended a kernel upgrade, and I accepted. It then threw this
