Also, I have to agree with bl8n8r, it is annoying that an upgrade of
Ubuntu results in so many error/warning messages during boot. Since some
are saying that this here really is a bug of upstart, is there already a

I had the problem since Kubuntu 7.04 on my AMD64 and it is still there
in 9.04.

Same for me, also with Jaunty. This has never happened before the
upgrade to Jaunty, and even now it mostly occurrs when I queue songs.
Btw: I am using the old Amarok 1.4.
In some forums on the internet I found the hint that this bug occurrs
when the system is under heavy (I/O) load, and although
I think I solved it. I looked what happened when I start/stop the
services from the console. As it turned out, the service causing the
problems was dbus. Stopping or starting it lead to several other
services (like hal) being stopped/started TWICE.
In my case, the /etc/init.d/dbus script not only
Today I upgraded from Kubuntu 8.04 to 9.04 according to the official
instructions and everything worked fine, but then the above described
problems occurred when booting. On my system, it actually starts HAL
three times, but killing S24hal helped to speed it up.
