I think this bug can be closed now. After running update-manager, it
reported updates for adept, adept_manager, adept_updater and other. The
new version was 2.1.3ubuntu17.1 and this one is an official released
update, not a prerelease. After updating, I got the new distribution
stuff once more, but
@Alan Porter: I have just executed `apt-get update` as root, but I don't
have any messages about invalid signatures, nor did I have those before.
I have a fresh 7.10 install though. There were some updates for Adept
some time ago, but I still have the problem. On another computer I have

Well, I now run Kubuntu Gutsy 7.10 Release, with Amarok 1.4.7 and KDE 3.5.8 and
the bug is still there.
Some time ago I added a new album to my collection (the first album added after
installing Kubuntu 7.10). The name of that album was "Finding Beauty In
Negative Spaces". Now, a day or two late
I agree Awen, it would anyway be very wise to bring a .1 release out
after a month or two, most of the serious bugs that were found in the
official release will then be fixed in a .1 release. The upgrade-manager
is also broken though, see https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/154771 for
more details.

I have this problem too. On my first workstation I updated from Gutsy RC to
Gutsy Final by installing all updates. After the release got out, update
manager reported that a new version was available and launched the distribution
upgrade tool, which stops at the second step, saying that my system

I just installed the kdenetwork-dbg package; here's the backtrace:

I can confirm this bug. Happened to me on a brandnew install from the
Kubuntu Gutsy 7.10 i386 desktop cd. Everytime I try to connect to MSN
with Kopete I get this crash with signal 11 (SIGSEGV).

The problem is indeed random. I think it only occurs when Adept shows a list of
packages matching a given search pattern in the search box. When the bug
occurs, the description is displayed twice, once for a package matching the
search and once for another package not matching the search. Using
I agree. I just encountered the powerTOP tool from Intel
(www.linuxpowertop.org) and my battery went from 3 hours remaining to
3.6 ours remaining, after using "aticonfig --set-powerstate=1". Also it
would be nice that this could be a default setting in the powersave
profile if one uses an ATI card.
Here we see another screenshot, showing both the amule-common package
and the agsync-dev package, both with the same description; that can't
be right, can it?

Here another picture, now I've expanded the amule-common package and you
see the description is wrong. Again, this has only happened to me in
Gutsy, never before in Feisty, Edgy and Dapper.

I have made a screenshot of the wrong description. I just saw it when I needed
to install some program with Adept Manager. The bug is NOT in the package
"pppoe" but in Adept Manager.
In the screenshot you see the package aMule, but the description field shows
the description of another package.
