The issue is actually already resolved however the patch is afaik not
accepted upstream yet. The problem is that this device should be loaded
with the ath3k. Here is the diff (you may need to adjust it for newer

device which should be supported by the ath3k driver. So I added the device to

I recently installed oneiric on a Acer 4830TG, during installation
sounds was working, headphone jack etc. Now, the sound sometimes won't
work on startup, but then after suspend sounds works again. I guess the
drivers were reinitialized and it works. Still very weird.

I am having the same issue in an application I am developing. Seems that
switching (QMain)Windows causes the appmenu to get confused. I even
tried rebuilding the menus after usually losing it, made no difference.

I recommend you to stick with the ubuntu kernel. A PPA is always missing
packages like backport-modules, ubuntu-modules etc. So you might get
problems with update processes. Either stick with one kernel or
everytime recompile/install (how i do it). What is the problem with

Synaptic in sudo mode (but i guess that is because the fonts.conf is in
home dir). So it is not really a good workaround. Anyhow it should get

I have to confirm that this bug also affect winxp. I recently installed
that on another partition to play a specific game. This game was
installed on a external harddrive, so this means that the normal laptop
drive was never accessed. Later i checked the cycles in ubuntu and saw

I tried the nvidia thing (with fglrx). No luck either, the lshal | grep quirk
returns nothing.
The pm-suspend.log only tells about suspending, it doesnt even say anything
about starting resuming. It must be maybe a kernel issue. Maybe i should try
installing the kernel 2.6.22 from gutsy and see
I don't know for sure whether i am also a victim of this bug. However, I always
used to be able to do suspend untill now hardy alpha 6. I have a packard bell
laptop MZ057. In other word a strange model.

Possibly i found the fix... when disabling the fglrx module the problem
was over. Possibly you guys need to update the fglrx to 8.38.6. Before
on other distributions this did the fix.

Im using Feisty kernel 2.6.20-16 and also had the message, after disabling the
ipw3945 module the problem disappears. So maybe the bug should be reopened.
