Just to let people know. I'm running 15.04, I just installed the v4.0
kernel from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/v4.0-rc2-vivid/ and my focaltech touchpad is working
perfectly!
(Of course now my nvidia driver won't compile ;) but go figure)

Focaltech driver installed in 3.17.2. I've found this really stable, and
it (looks) like nvidia 340 works perfectly with it.
And I can suspend and resume, no problems.
I've been using it for over a week n

Interesting! When I resume (open lid after closing), all I get is a
black screen. I can't get the display to come back up.
This was my primary drive for trying to get the code to run as a DKMS
module, as everything works great under 3.17.1 kernel, rather than a
3.18*.

I just installed nvidia 340.24 (and several other updates) through ppa
:xorg-edgers/ppa, and so far, no problems for the past hour.
Hoping this will end up being a valid workaround, as this update was
driving me crazy.

In 13.04, the shortcuts defined in the Gnome 'Keyboard' setting
application worked. Such as volume up, volume down, take a screenshot.
However, in 13.10, hitting those shortcut keys (Media volume up, for
example) does not do

Doing a review of my logs, on crashes when I still have some log file
output, I'm seeing this a lot:

Cannot SSH into the machine when the freeze occurs.
Tried leaving a tail-f on sys.log, kern.log, xorg.0.log and dmesg.log when a
freeze happened, and no logging information was displayed.
Not sure what else I can do to work out what is going on with this bug.

So this just happened again. I tried to SSH in to get a dmesg dump, but
couldn't - said the port wasn't available.
Will leave an SSH session open, and see if it will stay open if I get another
freeze.

1. put evolution in offline mode (File/Work Offline)
2. close evolution
3. open a terminal and run:

This seems to be what is happening to me about every 30-60 minutes on
Hardy.
I'm running the backport modules, and it has not helped at all.
The only issue I am having here, is that I can get the error to happen
on the alt+ctrl+f1 screen, however, it is larger than the screen, so I
cannot see all
Just to add an extra note here - sometimes this drops off my internet
connection, but quite regularly this also results in a kernel panic on
Hardy. This can occur more than once per day.
The strange thing is, it will generally only panic when I'm at home - I
can only assume that it's because I'm

The nice thing is, I can 100% without a doubt say it's the wireless card. The
reason being, that at my previous job, I would be plugged into network through
a cable, and my wireless would be turned off.

You see that's funny, because I don't generally get it during high
network traffic, I get it more when things are idle, and then I go to do
something over the network.
I'm tempted to think it's NetworkManager, as this is happening across
cards.
