Sorry I misinterpreted something: telnetd/telnetd user/group does exist on my system. In fact this is an error in inetd.conf: the 'user' field in the inetd.conf file must be of the form 'username', not something like 'username.groupname'. - In inetd.conf, replace 'telnetd.telnetd' by 'telnetd'
