I have re-opened this bug. Updating ALSA to 1.0.23 solved the front audio problem, but it brings another problem: when a process uses audio, it monopolizes audio until it is stopped/killed. If I watch a YouTube video, then open Rhythmbox, I can't play my music until I quit Firefox. Likewise, if I
