I still see this in current Lucid as well. I'm not at all certain that
the problem lies in xserver-xorg-input-evdev. A good test would be to
suspend and resume on the console, to see if the problem only occurs
under X.

After that, usb-creator shows only /dev/sdb, and lets me format it,
though the UI freezes while it does so and Nau

I just confirmed this on karmic-desktop-i386.iso build 20091020.3:
1. Boot in KVM
2. Select "Try..."
3. Open the Examples folder using the shortcut on the desktop
4. Double-click Presenting_Ubuntu.odp
The document opens successfully, but a crash report appears for
oosplash.bin.
